First I needed to consider what are the main elements that I should include on my home page, and why. I also need to consider what type of feeling I would like it to have – and how this will align with my previous branding choices. I want to convey clarity, simple user experience, communicate a trustworthy, none judgemental space. To do this I will;
- Clear Mission Statement: A concise, impactful statement that explains what the consultancy does and how it benefits the client. (previously used on banners)
- Minimalistic Design: Use a clean layout with plenty of empty space. In alignment with previous branding choices.
- Visual Content: A subtle, high-quality image or short looping video. (shows off the Culture of Influent)
- CTA : Placed prominently but not intrusively. (maintain trust between viewer and Influent)
- About Section: Brief but friendly description of what Influent is about, beyond basic mission statement.
Pencil Drafts.
Figma Drafts.
Mac Book Pro 14″ Screen.
I wanted to create two very different home page drafts, so that I could challenge myself and also challenge my gut reaction to how the layout should work. It is easy to make drafts that are similar, but being able to compare opposites sometimes helps to find the correct happy medium.
Looking at my two designs, the right hand draft works better with the modern, minimal branding that I have been aiming for so far.
The photo carousel focuses on simplicity, clean lines, and an intuitive layout. The design prioritises the user experience and doesn’t overwhelm the space with multiple images.
HQ Wire Frame.
This wireframe embraces a minimalist theme, that emphasises simplicity, functionality and a welcoming atmosphere for a home screen. It conveys trust and professionalism whilst also managing to make an emotional impact on the user. Through use of colour iI think I have conveyed well the softness friendly atmosphere of the culture influent stands for. I strays far from the dark, cold feeling consultancy websites that I looked at previously – and although this may slightly alienate users that “expect” this from a consultancy firm, this colour palette and imagery feels like a much safer space for people to ask questions or for help with there business.
When making my HID FID wireframes, I would add some animation and maybe soft music to make the webpage feel more dynamic, I think the image carousel would also help to do this.
Overall I think I have made a page consistent with the Companies Brand Identity, and the image I set out to create for it.
